Saudi Arabia :Mangaluru man arrested in Saudi Arabia for derogatory remarks on social media against Crown Prince, Mecca

Riyadh: A Mangalorean man Harish Bangera has been arrested by the Saudi authorities for his comments on Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Mecca. According to reports, the man, working as an AC technician, commented on social media that Ram temple will be built in Mecca. While his employer terminated his service, his wife has alleged that the said social media account on her husband's name was fake and created from Kasargod.
According to local reports, the man was working for a company in Dammam, when, on December 21, he uploaded a blasphemous post regarding Mecca, the holy site of Muslims across the world. The post received numerous comments, many criticising Bangera. The man was arrested after the post came to the notice of Saudi authorities.
"We Gulf Carton Factory Co. want to have your attention for what happened, in relation to unethical posts, posted by Mr Harish Bangera from his personal Facebook account. It was unacceptable and we have immediately terminated Mr Harish Bagera form his duties and company contract. We condemn such activities extremely and have reported this case to Police, Ministry of Labour & Saudi authorities for their further action. We assure everyone that we have zero tolerance for such acts (sic)." said Bangere's employer in a message on their Facebook post.
